This work came from a place of generosity and hope for exchange. At the 2010 Wassaic Project Festival, Bowie and I restored a luncheonette and served pancakes and coffee for free to anyone who came by. We made new friends, swapped pancake stories, and opened a direct dialogue between the folks who were throwing the festival (myself, Bowie, Eve) and the attendees. We learned a lot and heard amazing rumors. We have continued this piece every year since its inception and the cooks have expanded to include our board of directors and complete staff. We all look forward to it every year except for the morning part. Breanne Trammell makes the limited edition menus and placemats every year which are free to take after you eat.
